Illustrious Mari Makinami(真希波マリイラストリアスMakinami Irusutoriasu Mari)
Is a fictional character in the saga of Rebuild of Evangelion anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Makinami Illustrious Mari is one of the new characters introduced in Rebuild of Evangelion. It's a new EVA pilot, and therefore, a young girl the same age as the others. Is the pilot of the unit 05 and pilot Provisional Replacement Eva 02.
It is not known if it is part of the Children, but when Unit 02 pilot with Plug Suit shows a 5 on the back, announcing that perhaps the Fifth Child (or perhaps it is the pilot of EVA-05).
Its origin is not specified, but the combination of Japanese and Western names suggests that their genetic background is half Japanese Western media, similar to Asuka. Its appearance is characterized by its brown hair, blue green eyes and glasses features, in addition to that, as Asuka, also carries daily clips A10 nervous, as a headband.Student wears a uniform different from other actors, and not show any link with NERV or Misato, despite piloting the EVA-02.Mari is calm and quiet, yet very professional, especially when an EVA pilot. Sometimes it shows something careless, like when piloting the EVA-05 through a tunnel singing merrily. You appear to have some kind of fetish to the LCL, and who once said to Shinji "You smell good ... a smell of LCL. Also appears to have vision problems, and that when Unit 02 falls on the train station she loses the glasses and have trouble finding them in the Entry Plug.
