In the manga and anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, the EVAs are mecha piloted by Rei Ayanami, Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley. The EVAs were allegedly created by NERV to defend Tokyo-3 from the threat of the Angels. The EVAs were designed by Ikuto Yamashita and series director Hideaki Anno.
Although they appear to be giant humanoid robots, the Evas are actually semicibernéticos, integrating a biological with mechanical infrastructure, flexible polymer and armor.This armor is almost impenetrable for the ordinary weapons, but have different levels of effectiveness against the attacks of the Angels.
