The fifteenth Angel, Arael, is a large winged creature, shining. In addition to its AT field, his main weapon is a ray of yellow light that enters the mind of the target, attacking it (mentioned that the beam has properties somewhat similar to an AT field.) Its outer core is supported by two appendices that are in the bottom.
Arael appears in a low orbit, but beyond the scope of the normal weapons of Evangelion. Ignoring orders to serve as reinforcement to Rei, Asuka faced the Angel alone in Evangelion Unit 02. - It is never explained how the unit 00 was able to develop enough force to launch an object such as the Spear of Longinus at a speed greater than escape. However, in The End of Evangelion the spear back into the hands of the unit 01 on its own, indicating a degree of self-propulsion.
- In the anime, Angel psychic lightning is accompanied by the oratorio "Hallelujah" from Handel's Messiah.
- Version "Director's Cut" episode 22, which appears Arael includes several sequences with new animation, as scenes in the nightmare of Asuka (in which there are strong references to their hidden feelings for Shinji) and a shot of the section the tip of the spear is melted in a manner similar to a spiral, just before entering the Angel.
- In the anime, Asuka apparently does not suffer any physical sequel of lightning, but in the manga is reduced to a vegetative state because of the mental shock.
